Black with a white stripe. The 1978 Sk8-Hi is the first Vans to rise above the ankle, an addition skaters asked for to protect the malleolus from board impacts. Canvas and suede on the upper, a forefoot reinforcement, a vulcanised Waffle sole. Black with the white stripe is the original combination. A flat sole, no cushioning.
