Knit replaces the original leather here and takes real weight off the shoe, at the cost of the lateral hold the stiff panel used to give. The pattern is woven into the material, which removes any overlay on the side. The sole is the one from the classic version, and the knit wraps the foot from the first wearing.
This Flyknit sneaker holds its shape in wear. Wash the knit by hand. A machine distorts the structure of the upper, and knit lets far more air through than leather, which changes how it feels in summer. The heel stays stiff. Nike says this model runs large: take half a size down from your usual.
