The Samba arrived in 1950 for footballers training on frozen ground, which is where the flat sole and the reinforced toe come from. The kids’ version takes that construction over without simplifying it. Royal blue hides the traces of a playground well.
Leather and suede up top, gum below. A flat sole absorbs nothing, and a long day makes that clear. The reinforced suede toe originally protected the foot when striking a ball, and gum grips hard on smooth ground. It also leaves pale marks on parquet.
