The animal print is confined to the three stripes and leaves the rest of the shoe entirely black, which avoids the crowded effect of a motif spread over the whole upper. The contrast only reads from a few metres; further off the pair passes for plain. The motif is printed onto the suede rather than stitched on.
Suede is what gives this shoe its hold. Where the foot bends is where the print goes first, and that spot dislikes a hard brush. The German brand has brought this motif back to its women’s collections for several seasons.
